Stand Up for Our Children and Make Your Voice Count by Joining our Suicide Prevention Activist Network
According to Patrick Kennedy, we don't need to intellectualize suicide, we need to humanize it. We also need to wake up to the fact that suicide rates are at a 30-year high and climbing. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in youth ages 10 to 24 and the leading cause of death for youth identifying at LGBTQ (Suicide Prevention Resource Center).
Hope Xchange is spearheading an initiative with kindred spirits from around the world with the goal of bringing more attention to the issue of suicide and what must be done to reduce the incidence of suicide, particularly on behalf of our children. Other activists who are already involved in our network are primarily from the nonprofit space, mental health and suicide prevention advocates and those who have lost their children to suicide.
Together, Let Us Be the Magnet Pulling Forces Inward & Amplify Our Voices Outward to Respond to Speak Up On Behalf of our Children
Immediate action must be taken to address the fact that there is simply too much fragmentation and too many nonprofits, foundations and advocates working in silos when collaborative efforts are called for. A collaborative dialog must be initiated with those who have wide circles of influence and broad reach.
In addition to starting a community forum on our site to start this much needed dialog, we will be creating a Suicide Prevention Activist group on LinkedIn and will be inviting those who contact us below to Join that group as well. And this is of course only the beginning. My friends, there is much work to be done.
There is simply nothing more important than saving lives. Please help us do so. If not you, who?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead
