Danni is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Dallas majoring in neuroscience. She is a Eugene McDermott Scholar, a competitive merit scholarship awarded to enrich students academically, culturally, and personally as future leaders. In addition to her coursework, Danni has participated in research studying the effect of drug therapy on neuropathic pain after sciatic nerve injury. And, as an Executive Assistant for Social Media Committee for CometTHON, a UT Dallas student-led organization, she helps raise money for Children’s Hospital Dallas and UT South-Western Medical Center. Danni's other volunteer work includes Alpha Epsilon Delta, a national pre-medical society focused on contributing to the community through volunteer events and raising money for medical research.
After completing her neuroscience degree, Danni hopes to shine more light on mental health issues while working in the health care field.
Danni volunteers because...
I believe that mental health is not given the attention it deserves. Currently, there are too many people who struggle silently as they feel they have no avenue to seek help. As a neuroscience major, I've learned about the biological and emotional tolls mental illness has on the brain. I am incredibly grateful to help the Hope Xchange team continue their work in providing advocacy and hope.
